Over the years, Drew and Jonathan have reimagined so many outdoor spaces for families, investors, and renters alike—so we’re looking to their best backyard design ideas to inspire your own makeover!

There is no shortage of opportunity when it comes to outdoor living. From poolside cabanas to small patio designs, cozy seating arrangements with outdoor fireplaces, and outdoor kitchens complete with pizza ovens, the Bros really have done it all. However, our top picks stand out for their creative design and jaw-dropping reveals. Backyard Renovation Before and Afters

1. Property Brothers at Home: Drew’s Honeymoon House

In Drew’s Honeymoon House remodel, the whole family got involved to transform this fixer upper into a total dream space! The 1921 Los Angeles home became Drew and Linda’s oasis, complete with thoughtful touches—including a new floor plan that helped them turn their backyard into a chic, upscale retreat with plenty of charm.

2. Celebrity IOU: Snoop Dogg

For Snoop Dogg, surprising the commissioner of his youth football league, Commish, with a new luxe retreat was something he had been California-dreaming of! With the help of Drew and Jonathan, the crew was able to gift Commish with a lavish, modern living space, complete with an outdoor area that embraced bold contrast.  

3. Celebrity IOU: Kris Jenner

When Kris Jenner stepped onto screen to ask the Bros for help redesigning a friend’s backyard space, they were happy to get to work. The yard was almost completely untouched when they began, so they were excited to get creative with the blank canvas. Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner joined in, too, to bring Lisa a gorgeous new backyard dining area, outdoor fireplace, and serene poolscape.

4. Backed By The Bros: Season 1, Episode 5 & 6

Sometimes, you have to craft a backyard out of thin air! In this two-part episode of Backed By The Bros, Drew and Jonathan came to the rescue for a mother-daughter team who were navigating their tricky rental property. After a ton of work and some smart savings hacks, they were able to pull off the luxe look they were going for, including a gorgeous rooftop patio with comfortable seating, plants and greenery, and space for renters to relax in the sun.

5. Celebrity IOU: Justin Hartley

On this episode of Celebrity IOU, we almost couldn’t believe the transformation! Justin Hartley wanted to surprise his friend Mat with a completely new look in his backyard—one that better fit him and his family’s style. So Justin and the Bros installed a putting green and a gorgeous outdoor grilling kitchen, and even retiled the pool and built a pergola and table for summer dinners.

6. Celebrity IOU: Josh Groban

When Josh Groban’s Celebrity IOU episode aired, we were floored to see that Drew and Jonathan not only transformed Josh’s bandmate’s garage, but also his backyard! Mark got an incredible upgrade for his home studio as well as a life-changing renovation in his backyard, complete with an in-ground hot tub, beautiful kitchen and dining area, and chic seating for hosting.

7. Brother Vs. Brother: Season 7 (Drew)

On season 7 of Brother Vs. Brother, the Bros certainly brought the heat! Drew’s backyard redesign was like a scene straight from Tuscany, with an outdoor sauna, cafe seating, and pizza oven—talk about a dream backyard reno.

8. Brother Vs. Brother: Season 7 (Jonathan)

Jonathan’s season 7 outdoor reno was influenced by Spain, with beautiful tile work and a serene pool lounge, as well as cabana-style bar seating. Get a load of this before photo! Can you even believe it’s the same place?

9. Celebrity IOU: Ali Wong

Ali Wong’s Celebrity IOU renovation for her college friend Citadelle had all our jaws on the floor! As a busy working mom, Citadelle was tired of her old digs, so she needed a chic, functional space where she could really entertain. Drew and Jonathan crafted a luxurious outdoor oasis with a covered pergola that extended off the house, as well as a fabulous kitchen and dining area.

10. Celebrity IOU: Taraji P. Henson

Taraji P. Henson approached the Bros in need of some major assistance. She wanted to give back to her housekeeper, Jahel, who supported her like a second mother throughout the pandemic. They built a pergola and a lounge area for Jahel to hang out with her daughter, Winter, as well as a garden cove and dining area. It turned out so chic!

11. Celebrity IOU: Mayim Bialik

In Mayim Bialik’s heartfelt Celebrity IOU episode, she and the Bros gift Mayim’s best friend of 17 years a total gut-renovation of her backyard. Alongside this beautiful eat-in outdoor chef’s kitchen, Drew and Jonathan also built a yoga studio, iron pergola, and fire pit.

12. Property Brothers at Home on the Ranch

During Property Brothers at Home on the Ranch, we watched Drew and Jonathan totally remodel their Vegas mountainside home, from the inside out. In the backyard, we see this play out with the addition of a wooden pergola, fireplace, and a comfy seating area. Couldn’t you just see yourself relaxing here forever?

13. Celebrity IOU: Terry Crews

Terry approached Drew and Jonathan, wanting to give his family driver and lifelong pal, Frank, a fabulous backyard makeover. So they completely transformed Frank’s yard, and took it from dull and dry to green and serene! It came complete with an outdoor kitchen, zen fire pit zone, and an immersive poolside gym.
