After her divorce, Marisa was eager to find a place for her and her two sons, Alex and Ryan, to call home. They’ve gone through a lot of transitions as a family recently—between adjusting to a new dynamic and living at Marisa’s parents’ house for the past six months—and she’s hoping that with the help of Drew and Jonathan, she can make this big life moment feel a little less stressful. On this episode of Property Brothers: Under Pressure, Marisa sets out to achieve just that!
To start the process, Drew and Jonathan each picked a property that they felt matched well with Marisa. After looking at both of the homes—one in her ideal neighborhood but in need of some sprucing, and one move-in ready but right next to the airport—she decided to go with the house that was in her preferred location. It’s close to her parents, her job, and it’s right near the neighborhood she grew up in. So, the Bros got to work transforming it for her and her boys to settle into together.
Before & Afters
Cozy Spot to Lounge
The general layout of the living room worked well, and didn’t need much tweaking to fit Marisa’s needs. So, a lot of the updates were aesthetic here. They brought in the earthy colors that Marisa wanted—muted blues, mauves, and wood tones—and made the space feel more comfortable with plush fabrics and a cozy sofa to lounge on together for movie nights.
Kitchen Upgrade
Drew and Jonathan wanted Marisa’s kitchen to feel spacious and stylish, while also providing the function she needs. They widened the entrance into the kitchen from the dining room, and opened up a portion of the galley kitchen to give her better sight lines into the living room. Three-tone cabinetry makes the space feel cozy and designed, especially with the addition of the natural wood tones.
Chic and Comfortable Dining
Adding storage along the wall in the dining room helped the space feel finished while also providing ample organization opportunities. Pretty, earth-toned colors complement the beaming natural light, and make the whole area feel serene.
Now, Marisa, Alex, and Ryan have a place that’s all their own to finally call home.
