Hayley and Jackson have young twins, Edith and Owen, who just turned 1, and they can’t imagine raising them away from extended family. So after 14 years living in Washington, D.C., they decided to take the jump and move back home near Hayley’s parents. They’ve been staying with her mom and dad for a bit while they look for a place of their own, but raising twins is no easy feat (Drew and Jonathan’s parents, Jim and Joanne, know a thing or two about that!). They’re hoping that with the help of the Bros, they can finally start planting roots in a home they love. With a strict budget and an eager need to move ASAP, this episode of Property Brothers: Under Pressure will put Drew and Jonathan’s skills to the test to help Hayley and Jackson.
The couple has $950k to work with all-in, and they know it’s going to be a bit of a challenge to cross off everything on their wishlist. However, they’re hopeful that the Bros can work their magic to get it done. After touring a couple of houses and debating renovations, layouts, and their wishlist items, they decided to go with the home that better fit their ideal feel and flow. Now, onto the renovations!
Before & Afters
Cool Contemporary Place to Lounge
Because they had mismatched floors on the first floor, they opted to go with luxury vinyl throughout for better flow from room to room. With that done, they were then able to move onto redecorating the space with a mix of modern touches, clever storage, and cozy lounging spots.
Fun Family Kitchen
The kitchen layout was great and the cabinets were in good shape—it was just a little too much wood for Hayley and Jackson’s taste. But that called for an easy fix with just a coat of paint, a new backsplash and countertop, and chic accent lighting. Now, their new green kitchen feels contemporary and fresh, and totally updated.
Upgraded Living Room
Something they loved about this living space was the abundant natural light and the sloped wood ceiling—it felt so cozy and welcoming. They opted to modernize the look a bit by toning down the wood accents and painting the trim throughout, which really made the ceiling a standout feature.
Stylish, Organized Dining
The previous owners actually sold the house with the furniture, and since Hayley and Jackson never had a true dining table, they thought it would be the perfect opportunity to take it and turn it into one they’d love. With some sanding and refinishing, along with new wall storage, comfortable seating, and some decorative touches, the vision for their dining room came together perfectly.
Making It All Come Together
After all was said and done, Hayley and Jackson feel like they finally have a home they’re happy to raise their family in. It feels like them, and they’re so excited for this next chapter together.
“This is our home now—we live here. And we’ve just been so transient and everything in boxes… This is amazing,” Hayley says.
