Cue the warm and fuzzies—it was a Scott family reunion on this week’s episode of Forever Home! Our big brother JD and his fiancée, Annalee, tasked us with transforming JD’s Vegas man cave into a functional place to plant their roots. We started by retooling the layout so we could close off the kitchen, expand the master bedroom, and create two separate bathrooms; then we moved on to incorporating design features with as much wow factor as this extraordinary couple. (Yes, we’re biased, why do you ask?) The new exterior is nearly unrecognizable, too, with a picture-perfect white picket fence and low-maintenance greenery serving up major curb appeal. We love how this renovation turned out—and we’ll get to see it frequently when we come over for family dinners—but more importantly, so do its lovebird owners.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS

GLAM ROCK

We convinced JD to toss out the hideous maroon couch he’s had for, oh, about two decades—but we didn’t completely rob his living room of bold colors! We used jewel-toned upholstery to add pops of color against the neutral gray walls and new wood-inspired gray tile flooring. Annalee wanted lots of texture in this room, and we went big. We created this stunning faux-brick wall with foam sheets and then painted it a dramatic matte black. Now that’s an entrance!

PLUM AND PLUMMER

Does anybody actually enjoy doing laundry? To give this mundane—but necessary—chore a bit of spunk, we painted the washer and dryer cabinets a brilliant shade of plum. (You might’ve noticed that a similarly moody hue makes an appearance in the master bedroom.) For extra flourish, we added a bright copper tile backsplash with complementary hardware. From now on, JD and Annalee might actually fight over who gets to do the next load.

SHOWER POWER

After creating the master bath of their dreams, we gave JD and Annalee’s guest bathroom a major overhaul as well. To make it appear more spacious, we installed an all-glass sliding shower door (which lets in lots of natural light) and continued the light-colored bubble floor tile throughout. For a cool, cohesive design feature, we extended the shower wall tile above the sleek new vanity—it looks just as stunning as a backsplash.
