It might only be the start of fall, but creative houses and paint color brands have already began releasing their choices for the 2027 Color of the Year—and from what we’ve seen, this might just be the best year for color we’ve seen in a while. In recent years, design has been overtaken by quickly-changing styles and micro-trends. But now, we’re beginning to see a push back from the social media bubble, and instead, folks are leaning into a more authentic display of their individual style, and what home means to them.
“One theme rose to the top this year: finding balance and getting back to what feels right,” says Ashley McCollum, Color Marketing Manager at Glidden, in an interview with DrewandJonathan.com. She says now more than ever, consumers are trying to find thoughtful adjustments they can make for their life that are more authentically them; let go of what doesn’t work; lean into products and services that offer flexibility; stop chasing the latest design trend and ignore the algorithm; and gravitate towards things that are more personal.
With the 2027 Colors of the Year, there’s a clear draw toward color choices that feel intimate, curated, and calm. And as more Color of the Year predictions come out for the year ahead, we’ll be discussing how they were chosen, where they’ll work best, and what kind of style they’ll fit best. Come with us to take a look inside each color story.
Webster Green by Benjamin Moore

In their press release for this year’s Color of the Year, Benjamin Moore calls Webster Green “the quintessential shade of green.” It’s one that integrates into its surroundings with ease, yet still makes an impact. “The green color family’s ability to adapt and transform makes it incredibly timeless,” says Andrea Magno, Vice President of Brand, Color, and Integrated Marketing at Benjamin Moore. “Sitting at the center point is Webster Green, a mid-tone that serves as a reminder of the past but feels right and relevant today.”
A shade like this both adaptable and consistent; creative and comfortable; timeless and individual. “For 2027, we wanted to pick a green that felt fresh and right for today, not a shade that reminisces. Knowing that stability, composure, and an interest in colors with a timeless essence are working their way into the home, Webster Green stood out from the rest.”
French Press Coffee by Dunn-Edwards

For their 2027 Color of the Year, Dunn-Edwards wanted to bring lived-in luxury and effortless elegance back into the home. With its complex plummy undertones, this toasty dark-roasted hue has unmatched depth.
In a press release by Dunn-Edwards, they write, “Dunn-Edwards color experts identified a decisive shift away from the cool grays, stark whites, and flat beiges that have dominated recent years, in favor of warm, earthy hues.. French Press Coffee is the convergence of that movement—a warm, complex brown that feels both timeless and unexpected.” Explore their
Artifact by Glidden

“Not every home update needs to be dramatic to feel different,” says McCollum in a press release for Glidden’s 2027 Color of the Year. “Artifact is that perfect ‘hit reset’ color. Not a reinvention—just a fresh realignment. It’s confidence without the drama and calm without the snooze. It’s the color of reset, but without erasing your personality. It’s fresh, optimistic, and lets people design a space that reflects who they actually are, and not who they’re expected to be.”
Soulful Sage by Dulux UK

Green is making its way as a big hitter for 2027. With its calming, serene effects, it’s an easy-to-love hue that’s even easier to style—and this soothing Soulful Sage color from UK paint brand Dulux was chosen just for those reasons.
In their reveal for the 2027 Color of the Year, Dulux writes, “For Dulux Colour of the Year 2027, we chose an ethereal sage tone—Soulful Sage—because, of all the natural greens, it is the most versatile and sensory. Light, soft, and silvery, it’s a shade that can elevate a room in countless different ways bringing in radiance, elegance and delight.” The Dulux team recommends styling it by double drenching, which is a color drenching technique that involves using two or more similar colors (such as Soulful Sage and Jurassic Stone) to create a dynamic, striking look.
Celery by Sherwin-Williams
Glidden chose Artifact, a warm, soothing dusty blue, as their 2027 Color of the Year for its calming, fresh, and optimistic effects. It’s about coming back into our own sense of style, and curating our homes to be uniquely ours.

Celery has officially been named the 2027 Color of the Year by Sherwin-Williams and HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams. It’s a soft, muted, and peaceful yellow-green hue that provides a fresh perspective to home styling ideas. Balance the pop of color with neutral earth tones, deep jewel shades, and grounded botanical patterns to create a dynamic, layered palette.
“Celery was chosen as the 2027 Color of the Year because it reflects today’s priorities: wellness, balance, and connection,” says Ashley Banbury, Color Marketing Manager at Sherwin-Williams. “Homeowners and designers are increasingly prioritizing wellness at home, seeking soothing environments that support mental health and overall well-being. This shift has also fueled interest in eco-inspired design, with a greater emphasis on bringing elements of the natural world indoors through color, while a sustainability mindset is shaping preferences for hues that feel enduring.”
Grounded by BEHR

In 2027, we’re seeing movement toward a home interior that’s genuinely authentic to us and our style. For the BEHR 2027 Color of the Year, that notion lives perfectly in the color Grounded.
“A mossy olive with earthy brown undertones, Grounded balances softness and depth. Inspired by the restorative essence and quiet energy of nature, this refined green creates spaces that feel warm, connected, and effortlessly inviting,” says Kayla Kratz, Senior Director of Colour & Design Strategy at BEHR in their 2027 Color of the Year announcement. “Grounded speaks to a growing movement toward spaces that feel rooted, lived-in, and real. It leaves room for imagination to move freely, giving the home the rare feeling of being both settled and quietly alive with possibility.”
Deep Rooted by Dutch Boy Paints

When Dutch Boy Paints was deciding on their 2027 Color of the Year, they found similar trends in their market research that we’ve seen across the board—a sense of authenticity, and a deep sense of home as a personal space that should feel like your own. Deep Rooted was the perfect combination of saturated, warm, and versatile that they were looking for.
“Our 2027 Color of the Year feels alive with possibility while being rooted in the familiar warmth of nature,” says Lisbeth Parada, Color Marketing Manager at Dutch Boy Paints. “Deep Rooted offers a color that feels rich, grounding, and deeply human. Its earthy orange tone creates a versatile foundation for spaces that celebrate individuality through bold contrasts and layered textures.” The paint will be sold exclusively at Menards.

Rose Earth takes its cue from the natural mineral pigments traditionally sourced from clay deposits in Italy, reflecting the timelessness of earthy colors—their depth, their reliability, their natural character. It’s a shade rooted in heritage and thoughtfully reimagined for today’s spaces.”
