Kristin and Michelle are sisters, single moms, and totally inseparable—and now, they’re going to be roommates, too. They want to pool their resources in order to find a big family home that can fit their lifestyles, mutual love of hosting, and their two kids (Kristin’s pre-teen Piper and Michelle’s soon-to-be college grad Aidan). This week on Property Brothers: Under Pressure, the Brothers are helping these sisters find and renovate a new home to make it exactly what they’re hoping for—together.
Though their list of wants is similar, it’s not exactly the same. Kristin wants a pool; Michelle is adamant about not having one. Kristin’s style leans more transitional-modern; Michelle’s is more eclectic-vintage. Between their differences, though, they’re hoping Drew and Jonathan can help them find a place they’ll both be happy with.
Kristin, Michelle, and the Bros all chose a house to tour to compare features and see which one can be that just-right fit that they can compromise on. After weighing the pros and cons and talking about what’s possible renovation-wise, the sisters decided to go with the house Drew and Jonathan picked out. Now, all that’s left to do is give the living and dining space a quick refresh.
Before & Afters
Bold Contrast
Unfortunately, termite damage meant that the entire living and dining space needed brand-new flooring. But this ended up working to their advantage for what Kristin and Michelle were looking for in terms of style and brightening up the space.
Bold, contrasting colors, modern furniture, and touches of vintage-inspired decor became the happy medium for both Kristin and Michelle.
Colorful Kitchen
Bold, marine blue cabinetry spans the entire kitchen (including the whopping 10-foot island), with brushed gold finishes that makes the whole space pop. Traditional vintage touches pair with modern statement pieces to get the look both of the sisters wanted.
Vintage Meets Modern
Blending styles isn’t always easy, especially when it’s vintage and modern—but the Bros got it done! With vibrant colors (like the bright pink area rug here), sculptural, modern furniture (as seen in the ottomans and swivel chair), and cozy accents, this space perfectly fits the vibe.
