Ask Your Brother: Drew and Jonathan Put Popular Home Hacks to the Test

Have you ever seen a home hack on social media that left you thinking, “That can’t really work, right?” Well, that makes two of us! There are a slurry of so-called “hacks” out there using random tools or odd strategies that promise to be the solution to your headaches. But oftentimes, they end up becoming a second problem you have to deal with when they don’t quite go as smoothly as the video on Instagram. Drew and Jonathan know all about this phenomena, and after a viewer submitted to Ask Your Brother with questions about what home hacks actually work, the Bros decided to put some viral ideas to the test.

In this installment of Ask Your Brother, Drew and Jonathan try out a few of these popular home hacks to see which ones are worth the hype. Will they be hacks, or a total hoax? You’ll have to watch the full video to find out! And don’t forget to subscribe to the Drew & Jonathan YouTube channel and turn on notifications so you never miss a beat. In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at what they tried:

Can You Use Sandpaper or Tinfoil to Sharpen Scissors?

If you have a dull pair of scissors and no way to sharpen them, these home hacks promise to be a quick fix to get your shears sharp again. In the end after testing both, Drew says, hacks should help solve a problem the easy way… And did either method meet that criteria?

Can You Use a Hair Dryer or Tape to Remove Stickers from Mugs?

Between a blow dryer and packing tape, what do you think would be better at removing those pesky price stickers from the bottom of your ceramic mugs? While one worked sort of well, and the other was pretty good at doing what it set out to, the Bros came up with another solution: Use both in tandem with one another to get the glue gone for good!

Can You Use a Wine Opener to Remove Wall Anchors?

It’s easy to become aggravated with wall anchors that just won’t budge. One viral home hack promises to fix all that, using—you guessed it—a wine opener! After testing the idea, Drew and Jonathan saw that it truly did work, but with its limitations.

Can Mayonnaise or Toothpaste Get Crayon Off the Wall?

We know, we know… Mayonnaise on the wall doesn’t sound like a great idea. But Drew and Jonathan decided to try it out anyway—for science! After testing both mayo and toothpaste on crayon marks, there was one clear winner and one clear flop. Hopefully, you can guess which one was better for how to remove crayon from the wall. Here’s a hint: You can brush your teeth with it, too.

Don’t forget to watch the video to get the verdicts (and their commentary along the way) and let us know what home hacks they should test out next in the YouTube comments!
