Fall is a favorite time of year for many, and for many reasons, too—the weather cools down, the leaves start to change, our favorite fall candles come out, and of course, we get to start decorating for the season! We love cozying up inside with all the best knit blankets and throw pillows, but 2024’s fall home decor trends are far more interesting than just snuggly fabrics and quilts. This year, we’re seeing a surge in abstract shapes, varying textures, and transitional color palettes.
Halloween and Thanksgiving are right around the corner, and festive fall decorating trends are already in sight. So to kick off the season stylishly, we decided to explore some interior trend predictions for fall, based on consumer data and trend analysis. We spoke to our in-house trend expert and VP of Creative & Design, Elizabeth Garcia, to give us the scoop on the fall 2024 design trends we should look forward to, and how to incorporate them into our own homes. Trust us when we say that this incoming season is going to be a style reset, and an exciting time to focus on home design.
Home Design Colors, Patterns, Designs, and Predictions for Fall 2024
Q: What’s trending for fall 2024?
A: For fall patterns we are seeing a lot of nature-inspired prints, botanical themes, modern abstract shapes, and modern geometrics. Our color trends include warm desert tones which reflect the turning leaves, cinnamon, and pumpkin spiced everything! We are also showing soothing, restorative hues perfect for cuddling up as temperatures start to cool.
Q: What’s on your fall 2024 mood board?
A: Our mood board includes evergreen, foundational pieces that can live throughout the seasons and have more longevity. We have also layered in more fashion-forward pieces that reflect the current fall trends. This keeps any tried-and-true pieces looking fresh, and is an easy way to try out new colors and decor that suit your style. We always like to incorporate freshness, but stay away from things that will be in and out of style too quickly. Home is an investment, and we want to provide enough inspiration for our clients to feel like they can express themselves without having second thoughts once the season fades.
Q: What’s out for fall 2024?
A: There is a foundational shift in the market moving away from gray-based neutrals to warmer tones like taupe, sand, and other toastier hues. Designers are offering decor and textiles that combine both grays and these warmer neutrals as customers transition their homes between palettes, which we think is perfect for settling into the fall season.
Get the Trendy, Toasty Look
Q: What fall home design trends are you excited for?
A: We are seeing much more color, print, and pattern in the market—which we love. The shops have been playing it safe for so long only offering subtle color and quiet prints. It is refreshing to see the market moving toward decor that is more colorful and reflective of the changing seasons.
Q: Any decor choices that will make a comeback this year?
A: Customers are still loving tactile, soft fabrics such as fluffy, faux furs, quilted velvets, chunky knit chenille blankets, and beautiful boucle upholstered furniture and accents. Decor that features these fabrics is a perfect way to feel cozy when the weather starts feeling a bit chilly.
Q: What are some easy ways people can update their current home decor?
A: Items such as decorative pillows, throw blankets, and other home decor of the like can be a fun, inexpensive way to add a fresh pop of fall color and pattern to any room.
Finds for a Quick Refresh
Q: If you could invest in one product this season, what would it be?
A: We are really loving the array of accent chairs, comfortable ottomans, and upholstered benches in warm desert hues, jewel-toned colors, and tactile, cozy fabrics. They are a great way to make your favorite spaces fresh and inviting. We also are keen on functional fashion and gravitate toward pieces that have extra hidden storage under the seat. Who couldn’t use more storage? Of course, additional seating is always perfect for this time of year when we spend more time indoors, entertaining friends and family during the upcoming holidays.
Worth the Splurge
Q: Any advice on decorating this season?
A: Surround yourself with decor that you love and that welcomes your family and friends. Each season brings its own special style ,and your home can always be that special place that looks good and feels good to you!
