When Drew and Linda were talking about making a nursery for Piper, they knew they wanted it to be cozy, cute, and comfortable—but also designed in a way where it could grow with her as she gets older. So, right after Piper was born, they decided to convert their guest room into a kids’ bedroom for Piper. What they didn’t know, however, was that it would take a little more time than they imagined to finish the project.
After almost a year and a half of ideas, stalls, hiccups, plans (and replans), and all the chaos that happens along the way in any renovation, Drew and Linda were finally able to open Piper’s bedroom doors to a space that felt perfectly hers. With whimsical touches, elegant design details, and practical furniture choices, they transformed the space into a brand-new sanctuary for their littlest one.
Cozy, Cute, and Comfortable Design

As Drew and Linda were first designing the space, they discussed everything from layout to color palette to wallpaper choices and more—and there were some compromises they had to make along the way. Linda wanted something a little more bold, while Drew leaned toward muted tones. So, they met in the middle, with a gorgeous mustard-striped accent wall, surrounded by neutral lime wash-inspired wallpaper on the rest of the walls and ceiling.
Using Drew’s crib from when he was a baby himself, they were able to create a sweet space for Piper’s stuffie collection, too. In the opposite corner next to her bed, they placed a comfy chair for Mom or Dad to read books and tuck Piper in.
Whimsical Details & Sleepy Vibes

Linda had one aspect at the top of her list when they were dreaming up how they wanted Piper’s room to feel: “Super sleepy vibes,” she says. With a plush floral area rug, a cushioned low profile bed frame, and plenty of cozy layers throughout the room, that goal was definitely accomplished! Piper’s room now feels like a space she can nestle and grow into.
“The important thing with a kids’ space is, I don’t think it needs to be overly childish,” Drew says. Vintage ribbed glass sconces; patterned blackout curtains; comfortable, timeless accent furniture—all of these aspects can grow alongside Piper, while the smaller decorative pieces can easily be swapped out as she gets older. When designing a space for your littles, it’s all about balancing what they need now with what they can take into the future. And for Piper, Drew and Linda were able to achieve all that and more.
