Derek and Julianne Hough consider their trainer and close friend, Mark, to be a centering and healing presence for them during tough times. When he was forced to close his gym, the siblings wanted to help kickstart his next chapter with something special: A new kitchen and dining room in the condo he’s lived in for years. (It was a dance dance renovation, one might say…)

Together, we worked with the Houghs to transform Mark’s fruit-covered kitchen and dark dining room into a sleek and chic spot that feels more in line with his personality. Now he can host clients and loved ones with ease and has everything he needs to have the “best day ever.” (More on that later!)
Before & After
Celebrity IOU: Derek & Julianne Hough
CIOU 402 Resource Guide: Derek and Julianne Hough
The fruit-patterned wallpaper and dated features in the old kitchen weren’t exactly Mark’s style. We brought his personality in with “rich and sexy” updates like dark cabinetry, updated wood floors, and black tile with a hand-crafted feel. One tile even has a special note from Julianne on the back!
Dreamy Juice Bar
Visitors would hang out in the dining room previously, but it wasn’t an entertainer’s dream. We installed a super sleek bar with a fridge, so Mark can juice with his clients during the day and sip wine at night. We also honored his go-to mantra, “Best Day Ever,” with a cool, custom sign.
Dining Room Surprise
Before, one of the dining room walls was totally covered by mirrors, which didn’t help the lack of natural light. But then we realized there was something special behind them… a window! We removed the mirrors and now the space can take in all that sunshine.
