We made it! It’s finally spring! After months of hunkering down in our cozy homes during the winter, it’s time to welcome longer days and (slightly) warmer weather. Getting outside and basking in the sunshine is one way to enjoy the change in season, but you can also celebrate with easy spring decorating ideas.

To help you do that, we tapped the one and only Jonathan for his favorite 5 ways to update your spaces for the months ahead. His biggest tip: “Spring is all about color, so look for creative ways that you can introduce something fresh and fun,” he says. Here are Jonathan’s tips for infusing all things light and bright throughout your rooms:

1. Introduce Accent Pieces

A few accent pieces go a long way. Jonathan suggests bringing in a vase with fresh flowers or layering in a bright accent chair. Even a well-chosen coffee table book or colorful storage ottoman can make a stale design feel new.

2. Perk Up With Paint

Paint can change the feel of an entire room, so if you have a dark and dreary space you’ve been needing to revive, maybe now’s the time. Jonathan says you could opt for something soft but colorful. (And if you’re looking to redo your bedroom, these colors are a great starting point.)

3. Add a Wallpaper Pop

Whether you go all-out in a room or simply create an accent wall, wallpaper can make a space feel like a breath of fresh air. You could even choose a botanical print if you’re really in the spring mindset, especially if you use Scott Living self-adhesive wallpaper. It makes it super easy to change out your print as the mood or season strikes.

4. Throw on More Throw Pillows

Jonathan loves a throw pillow, and for good reason: “It refreshes a space without having to change out your anchor furniture,” he says. You can even pick up throw pillow covers if your living room or bedroom organization is limited and you can’t have extras lying around.

5. Let There be Lighting

Lighting is the ultimate tool for creating a light and bright mood. A statement overhead option is great, but you can also try it out on a smaller scale with a floor or table lamp that has a pattern or bright base. As long as it adds to the ambience, it works!
