After moving 14 times in the last 15 years, high school sweethearts Meghan and Chris have finally found the place to lay down roots. However, while their current home has character and potential, its awkward layout and lack of storage options have worn on the family. We redecorated their entryway, living room, and dining room so that they could have a more relaxed, adult space that matched their initial vision for the house.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS

DURABLE, YET ADULT

Small kids can make mealtime a routine mess, but we wanted Meghan and Chris to have a proper place to eat, not the small, toddler table they were previously using. The glass table, in combination with the luxury vinyl flooring, makes for easy cleaning. And as a bonus, we outfitted the house with so much recessed lighting that Chris never has to worry about seeing a lamp ever again.

A PROPER ENTRANCE

Before renovations, their bedroom was located right off their front door, and they constantly had to worry about tracking in snow and dirt. We moved their bedroom door behind a closed hallway and added built-in cubbies, so now they have plenty of space to pull out strollers.

VINTAGE CHARM, MODERN APPEAL

The fireplace was one of Chris and Meghan’s favorite features, so we wanted to make sure to keep its vintage charm while tying it into the rest of the house. With a fresh coat of paint, a new black quartz hearth, and Meghan’s artwork above the mantle, it is a stunning feature for family and friends to gather around.
