A life-threatening car wreck left comedian and actor Kevin Hart learning how to walk again—and with him every step of the way was his trainer and friend, Boss. Now recovered, Kevin wanted to thank Boss by transforming his rundown back house into a hangout, chill space and barbershop. We got in there with Kevin to give this place a full renovation worthy of Boss and Kevin’s friendship.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
TRAIN THE STAR AND THE KITCHEN WILL FOLLOW
We got Kevin into the demo, and he went all the way in, to the point we were pretty sure he was going to fight some cabinets. We’re thankful for his work and design eye, though, because this new kitchen is a phenomenal spot for post-workout breakfasts and post-workday happy hours. With seating for six around the island and full oven/stove and refrigerator, Boss will have plenty of space for clients, friends and Kevin, who we suspect may be coming over a lot.
WORK/LIFE BALANCE
Boss needed somewhere he could both take phone calls and chill after a day on the grind, so we created a space where he’d feel right at home doing either. Dark and light play off each other to create a warm, professional vibe that lets you know Boss is ready to pivot from work to play and back again at a moment’s notice.
A CUT ABOVE
Kevin and Boss met at the barbershop, so it only felt right that Kevin would include a custom barbershop in Boss’ space, both as an homage to their past and a place they can continue to bond. Kevin picked out the tile himself, wanting to see a pattern that felt both classic and modern—a recurring theme throughout Boss’ new, refined space.
