What would you say if we told you that you could make a real difference in the world by playing a game on your phone? And what if we told you that, by playing the game, you could help raise money to build new homes for families in need all over the world? Because all of those statements are true! This November, Drew and Jonathan are teaming up with Habitat for Humanity International and game developer Storm8 to make a huge impact, and they need your help.
From November 9th–November 12th, Property Brothers Home Design mobile game players can participate in an event that will raise funds to help build real homes for families in need of a safe place to live. Players will join Drew and Jonathan on a virtual Habitat build site, completing 15 steps to finish the house for the new homeowner. For each player who completes the full event, Storm8 will donate $1 to Habitat for Humanity, up to a total of $10,000.
Inspired by Detroit Habitat for Humanity homeowner Donyelle Pressley, the mobile game will center around constructing a whole home. Players will “volunteer” as their characters in the game, helping build the home together from the ground up—from constructing the foundation to building walls, decorating the space, and then adding the finishing touch of a mailbox. Finally, you’ll reveal the home to the virtual Donyelle herself. The game is not only about strategy and design, but also the importance of community and the joy of stability that everyone deserves: having a decent place to live.
Habitat for Humanity is an organization that brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. In the real world, volunteers and Habitat homeowners work together to build or renovate homes all over the globe. Habitat for Humanity organizes communities just like yours and ours, near and far, to ensure safe, affordable, and sustainable places for families to live—regardless of race, religion, gender, handicap, familial status, or national origin. Using local materials and labor, as well as technical knowledge, the organization has helped more than 46 million people in 70 countries improve their living conditions since 1976.
As supporters of Habitat for Humanity for over 25 years, Drew and Jonathan are so excited to have the opportunity to raise funds in a new way, and integrate the DrewandJonathan.com family to do so alongside them. This is a limited-time opportunity to really make a difference, and it’s so easy to get started. You can download the app and play for free today on the App Store or Google Play. And if you’re interested in volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in your own neighborhood, you can find your local Habitat at this link for more info. Happy building!
