After moving eight times in 15 years, Lesli and Dave were ready to say goodbye to house-surfing and builder-grade finishes. They’d dreamed of owning a charming waterfront property but settled on this 50-year-old home with a pool and—surprise!—extensive electrical issues. Luckily, the rest of the place was in decent shape. We left the kitchen intact (for once!) and added a few stunning design features throughout the sprawling living area and master suite.

BUILT-IN FUN
In case the pool out back doesn’t provide enough of a waterfront feel, we brought the ocean tones indoors. The living room’s water heater closet was replaced with custom built-ins that offer tons of storage, and the backing got a pop of dark teal paint that complements the room’s window treatments and navy sectional. (The artwork can be swapped out for a flat-screen—to watch Property Brothers, of course!)
HEADBOARD OVER HEELS
In the master bedroom, we created a focal point with a dramatic (yet still playful!) headboard. This floor-to-ceiling custom feature is upholstered in a cream and navy ikat fabric, which provides the perfect amount of contrast against the grasscloth wallpaper.
GET CRACKLING!
Once you step into the master bathroom’s massive three-sided glass shower, you can truly appreciate its beauty. This blue-gray herringbone glass tile with a crackle glaze adds texture and character, prevents the room from feeling overly polished—and is the finishing touch of this totally dreamy oasis.
