People and The Planet: How We’re Doing Our Part

We’ve always made it our mission to help people love where they live. We’ve helped hundreds of families realize their individual forever homes, but there’s one place we all call home: our planet.

Drew and Jonathan Scott: aka The Property Brothers

Our passion for environmental stewardship is rooted in our upbringing in Western Canada, where Mom and Dad taught us to take care of all that was around us. As we’ve grown our home décor offerings, we want to ensure both the products we create and the people who make them are engaging in sustainable, environmentally sound practices. Our partners work with eco-conscious manufacturers around the globe, where they’re using solar energy, rainwater and even recycled water bottles and yarn to create durable, long-lasting home products.

Here are a few of our partners and products we’re proud to highlight, and we’re always looking to do more.

Rugs selection

One company whose dedication to sustainability we are particularly excited to celebrate is Mohawk Home. Through their proprietary process, they take recycled water bottles and convert polyester material into extruded yarn that is then used to manufacture area rugs, scatter rugs and broadloom carpet.

Recycled bottles

Corporately across all the divisions of Mohawk, they divert an estimated 6.7 billion bottles annually from landfills, and use that material to generate over 200 million pounds of carpet and rug fiber.

Rug production with people and the planet in mind

Since the beginning of our partnership to the end of 2021, we are very excited to announce that we have diverted approximately 80 million water bottles from landfills by products sold through the Scott Living by Drew & Jonathan brand.

Smith & Noble

In our Fall 2021 Drew & Jonathan Home collection at Smith & Noble, many of our products use 15 new sustainable fabrics, including yarns that are produced reusing fibers obtained from recycling old clothing or knits and cuttings of new fabrics used in the garment industry. Many of these fabrics are made of 100% recycled yarn.

South Bay International

South Bay International, who makes  Scott Living adjustable bed bases and some of our utility bedding such as pillows, mattress protectors, and mattress toppers, has reported that, in their digital plants, 35% of their total energy consumption is driven by solar energy.

Colorful towels made with sustainability in mind

Welspun, one of our textile partners for Scott Living and Drew & Jonathan Home, has guaranteed that products such as our bath towels and rugs are made with the lowest water consumption possible from start to finish, and that 100% of these water needs for manufacturing are met with recycled wastewater.
