Taraji P. Henson’s Garden Surprise
In honor of her father, Taraji P. Henson has made it her mission to be a blessing in other people’s lives when she can. So when her housekeeper, Jahel, ended up supporting her like a second mother through the pandemic, Taraji knew she had to return the favor.
And since Jahel had already dreamed of a certain pair of brothers helping spruce up her home, Taraji knew just who to call. We came in and upgraded Jahel’s beloved backyard into a five-star garden oasis fit for entertaining and relaxation.

Design Highlights
Good Food, Good Vibes
Taraji decided it would be great to give Jahel and her daughter, Winter, a place to eat outside. By using decomposed gravel to divide up the backyard into zones, we were able to set aside a chic and modern dining area that will make entertaining guests a breeze.
Enjoying the Elements
Winter doesn’t have a green thumb like her mom. To get her outside, we constructed a lounge where she can hang out with Jahel. The new pergola keeps the area cool and shady during the hottest parts of the day, while the fireplace provides warmth during chilly evenings.
Getting Her Hands Dirty
When guests aren’t over, Jahel needs a place where she can get her hands dirty. This potting station not only helps keep all her gardening tools organized, but thanks to the shelves, she also doesn’t have to bend down as far and strain her joints.
